At STARLET MAINE COON CATTERY, we do everything we can to raise our kittens to be healthy, bear the characteristics of the breed, have a classic appearance in some types, in other types take into account breeding and the line of development of the breed, and certainly to have a good attitude, to be beautyful, clean and well-mannered kittens. Before you choose a kitten, it is worth visiting several breeders. I know it’s time and travel, but it’s worth it. Remember, a photo or video can roughly reflect the color and habit of the kitten, but not the culture of the place or the smells. The price of pedigreed Maine Coons in Hungary as a pet (with obligation for neutering) in 2023 is usually between 180-300.000 HUF, depending on the bloodline, and the breeder have to give genetic tests of parents of all kittens (HCM, PKDef, SMA).
Without a pedigree, I do not recommend to anyone to give money for a said to be purebred or kind of purebred, stc. animal, if there is no pedigree, only free of charge handing over is acceptable. The pedigree is not an amount in itself, only 3.500 HUF, but the fact that every parent can be traced, accounted for and proven, that represents a completely different value. If people offer a kitten without a pedigree, they do so because the parents are either unproven, it is not known whether there is blood infection between the ancestors (because it is not known), whether there are genetically sick among the ancestors, or because if it is simply from purebred parents, but despite that there is no pedigree,in this case there is no pedigree not because they regret the amount of 3.500 HUF for it and say it is not important, but actually because probably the cat associations would not be willing to issue a pedigree for that kitten, that is, the kitten comes from cats that would be excluded for some reason or already excluded from breeding. This is not necessarily an external defect, it can also be due to health reasons. In summary, the pedigree is not just a worthless 3.500 HUF one-page piece of paper, but proof that the given kitten comes from parents suitable for breeding.

Our prices are informative, the price of the selected kitten may vary lower/up, because just like the price of all bred cats, the price of the Maine Coon depends on many factors; primarily from the bloodline, i.e. from the parents in the pedigree, in addition to the color, musculature, stature, gender, and stance also affect the prices. Reservation of a kitten
If a kitten is selected, the reservation is min. 50.000 HUF, which can be transferred to the account number in the contract or paid in cash. In the event that you do not have the opportunity to bring the kitten, we can also provide home delivery upon request, price subject to agreement. Of course, we prefer it if you come to pick up the kitten in person, so you can see where they live, see the kittens and play with their siblings.

Before buying a kitten, ideas and tips
Kittens eat by me Royal Canin Maine Coon Kitten dry food, sometimes I pour some water on it, by this the balls suck themselves, but do not let it get too wet. They do not like if it is soaked or too wet, as we do not like soaked bread but dipped bread is delicious. Beside this they can eat RC Maine Coon adoult food as well, and other RC, Virbac, Purina, Husse foods. They eat wet food of Royal Canin (Maine Coon), Husse, Virbac, Sheba, Katovit and Animonda can. And of course they need much of meat, ground turkey, chicken hearts/grinds, preparing in microwave oven for 2 x 1 minutes, when it gets cool, it can be served for them, and of course other meats, it can be boiled, but many cats do not like boiled meat. Turkey baked in the oven is one of their favourite. Pork can be served only thorough cooked.
Feeding is in the morning and in the afternoon, after that in the evening dry food, dry food is let them left so much, which will be run out by the morning. If dry food is continously available in front of the cat, by time the cat will eat mixed up and irregularly during the day, will not have breakfast normally, and soon probably gets heavy and lazy. I think it is better if the cat is fresh, fit and joyful in the morning, and in this case in the mornings awaits for fresh food hungry and joyfully.
The food and water bowls of the cat must be washed daily, it is better to put fresh water in a heavy glass bowl, which is hygienic and the cat cannot pour it out easily. It has to be replaced about every two years, because it gets very limescale. The worst choice is the plastic, shallow bowl. If there is no available aquarium water for her, it is worth to put out at least two water bowl at the same time, if one of them would be poured out or get dirty (they play their balls, toymouse, etc.) into it, the cat still can drink fresh water from the other one, in summertime it is essential. The glass bowl should not be too flat with shallow water in it, it has to be deeper with enough water in it.
Cat litter can be any kind, no matter what it’s like.
Cat toilet can be any kind of, if it is covered, it is suggested to remove the cover for the first 2-3 days, until the kitten finds it and gets used to it. It can be a simple angular made of hard plastic, the wall of it at least 15 cm high.
- Fragile objects should be packed away from the kitten. It is not enough to put them higher, as the kitten can climb and get higher by the time, they should be put behind cabinet door. Long curtains are suggested to be pinned up for a few months.
- All kind of food and sweetness should be packed away, do not leave them on table. If you want to leave them on table, it should be covered, for example choclets in a little heavy glass bowl with a cover on it.
- Always take care of the windows, without supervision the windows can be left open only with such a little gap that the kitten cannot pop out her head. When we close the window, always take care of not to be the kitten there or on the ledge. And of course take care of the entrance door as well, if someone comes, do not leave the door open, the kitten may run out abrouptly.
- In the flat take care of the room doors, do not leave the kitten closed in any of the rooms without your knowledge, if she has been hidden there. Before leaving home, it should be checked where the kitten is. Open room doors should be propped doors, as if you are not at home, it may happen that the kitten may close the door accidentally during playing, and after that she cannot get out to eat or to toilet, and will be closed in one room all day.
- Never leave uncovered stove hotplate if it is still warm, a pot should be on it, or something should be left on it so that the kitten not to burn itself accidentally.
- You must get used to take care of the kitten when you close a door, make the bed, you enter abrouptly from a room to another room, you abrouptly step off the bed, etc., you always have to take care of the kitten, not to be on the way, under your feet, not to close her there, etc. A wardrobe door which can be opened down, you must take care before closing it, not to be a courios paw in the way by closing.
